Prescription Processing Guide

Learn how to process and dispense digital prescriptions using the WeCura Pharmacy Portal. This guide will help you understand where to find prescription codes and how to complete the dispensing process securely.

Getting Started

Processing digital prescriptions through WeCura is straightforward and secure. You'll need two key pieces of information to access and dispense a prescription:

  • Prescription Number (Recipe ID): A unique identifier for the prescription
  • Patient Verification Code: A 4-digit security code provided to the patient

1
Locating the Prescription Number

The prescription number (also called Recipe ID) is a unique code that identifies each prescription. Here's where you can find it:

In the WeCura Mobile App

Patients can also find the prescription number directly in the WeCura mobile app. Download the app from Google Play or the App Store to access your prescriptions on the go.

In Email Communications

If the prescription was sent via email, the prescription number will be included in the message. It may also be part of the prescription link provided in the email.

In PDF Documents

If the patient has a PDF file or printed prescription, look for the prescription number at the bottom of the document. It typically appears in the footer section and starts with 'w-' followed by alphanumeric characters.

Important: All WeCura prescription numbers contain letters and numbers, and typically start with 'w-' followed by the unique identifier. Example: 'w-VU3XDDY6'

2
Locating the Patient Verification Code

The patient verification code is a 4-digit security code that ensures only authorized individuals can access the prescription PDF. This code is provided to the patient when the prescription is issued.

Where to Find It

  • In the prescription email sent to the patient
  • In SMS or text message notifications (if enabled)
  • In the WeCura mobile app
  • Provided by the healthcare professional during the consultation

Security Note: The patient verification code is required to download the prescription PDF. This ensures that only authorized individuals can access sensitive medical information.

Access Prescriptions on Mobile Apps

You can also find the prescription number (Recipe ID) and patient verification code in the WeCura mobile apps. Download the apps to access your prescriptions conveniently on your smartphone or tablet.

WeCura Patient App

Patients can download the WeCura Patient app to access their prescriptions, view prescription details, and find the prescription number and patient verification code.

WeCura-Pro Professional App

Healthcare professionals can download the WeCura-Pro app to manage prescriptions, access patient information, and view prescription details including prescription numbers and verification codes.

3
Accessing the Pharmacy Portal

To process a prescription, you need to access the WeCura Pharmacy Portal. Here's how:

a

Navigate to the Pharmacy Portal

Go to the WeCura Pharmacy Portal website. You can access it directly or through the link provided in your pharmacy account.

b

Enter the Prescription Number

In the search field labeled 'Prescription Number', enter the prescription code (e.g., 'VU3XDDY6' or 'w-VU3XDDY6'). The system will automatically recognize the format.

c

Click Search or Consult

Click the search button to retrieve the prescription details. The system will display all available information about the prescription.

4
Verifying Prescription Information

Once you've retrieved the prescription, you'll see important verification information:

Verified Signature

Confirms that the prescription has been digitally signed by the healthcare professional and is authentic.

Ready for Processing

Indicates that all documents are signed and the prescription is available for dispensing.

What You'll See

  • Healthcare professional information (name and credentials)
  • Patient information (name and identification)
  • Complete list of prescribed medications with dosages and instructions
  • Prescription status and verification details

5
Processing and Dispensing Medications

To process the prescription, you need to be logged into your pharmacy account. Here's the process:

a

Login to Your Account

If you're not already logged in, click 'Process Prescription' to access the login screen. Enter your pharmacy email and password.

b

Select Medications

Review the list of prescribed medications. Check the boxes next to the medications you will be dispensing. You can select all medications or specific ones based on availability.

c

Finalize and Generate PDF

Once you've selected the medications, click 'Finalize and generate PDF'. This will create a record of the dispensing and generate a PDF document with the dispensing details.

After finalizing, the prescription status will update to 'Dispensed' with the date and your pharmacy information. This prevents the prescription from being used again at another pharmacy.

6
Downloading the Prescription PDF

To download the original prescription PDF, you'll need the patient verification code:

a

Click Download PDF

Click the 'Download PDF' button located in the action buttons section at the bottom of the prescription details.

b

Enter Patient Verification Code

A popup will appear asking for the 4-digit patient verification code. Request this code from the patient and enter it in the provided fields. The cursor will automatically advance to the next field as you type.

c

Verify and Download

Click 'Verify & Download' to confirm the code. If correct, the prescription PDF will open in a new browser tab for viewing or downloading.

Note: If the code is incorrect, you'll receive an error message. Make sure to enter the exact 4-digit code provided to the patient. The code is case-sensitive and must match exactly.

Troubleshooting

Prescription not found

Double-check that you've entered the prescription number correctly. Make sure there are no extra spaces or characters. The prescription number should start with 'w-' followed by alphanumeric characters.

Wrong patient code

Verify that you're entering the correct 4-digit code. Ask the patient to check their email or message for the exact code. The code is provided when the prescription is issued.

Cannot process prescription

Ensure that the prescription has been digitally signed and is marked as 'Ready for Processing'. If the prescription is not signed or has expired, you may not be able to process it.
